I today picked up the small parts needed and my spare blank key. At least tomorrow I can now fit the cush drive inserts to the rear wheel and replace the rubber inserts where required and fit the front brake assembly with the little pin in which touches the micro switch.
Had a very interesting forum conversation on UKMOC where a member was struggling to mount a new rear Ohlins shock to an early monster 900. I gave what advice I could and then was informed that mine with its remote is meant to fit under the frame behind the rear wheel on a bracket bolted under a frame member. I always did wonder what the lugs were for. Now I need to make a nice simple bracket out of probably Aluminium to fit mine neater and away from under my right knee.
Looks like tomorrow will not be boring.
